Is it free?

Are my screenshots uploaded?

No. Text recognition runs locally in your browser, so your image is not sent to our servers.

Which languages are supported?

English, Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, Persian, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Indonesian, Bengali, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Which file types work?

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WEBP, BMP and GIF images. Screenshots pasted from the clipboard also work.

Why is the first extraction slower?

The browser downloads the recognition engine and language data the first time. After that they are cached.

Why are some words wrong?

Small, blurry, stylised or low-contrast text is harder to read. Use a sharper image, crop tightly and choose the correct language.

Can it read handwriting?

It is designed for printed and typed text. Handwriting results vary and are often inaccurate.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, on modern phones and tablets. Tap the upload area to choose a screenshot from your gallery.
